As soon as enough water goes down to the pea, it seems like something happens around the loop to prevent the water from going down it. I'm wondering if I've created some sort or air pocket or vacuum with this new plumbing that prevents the water from draining quicker. I checked for clogs and it seems everything is clear. We never had a slow drain in the old vanity, but as soom as I installed the pedestal and this semi-condensed pea trap loop behind the pedestal, the drain is slow. Essentially now I have a 360 degree loop behind the pedestal. In order to install the pea trap, and to "hide" as much as the plumbing as possible behind the pedestal I had to essentially put another pea trap (upside down) attached to the new pea trap in order to loop it back and connect with the drain line coming up through the floor. My drain line comes up through the floor (not horizontally from the wall) directly behind the pedestal. I've just finished replacing an old vanity sink with a new pedestal sink.
